How old should a child be to use the HipHugger?
From when the child can sit upright without help (about six months) to 35 pounds.

Is it safe?
If used properly, the HipHugger is safe for parents and children. Some parents with back pain or other physical limitations might not be able to carry a heavier child or over long periods of time, but this would be true holding the child unaided. Obviously, everyone must use the highest degrees of care and common sense when carrying a child by any means. Every parent must read the instructions and warning notices before using the HipHugger.

What about care and maintenance?
Machine wash. Tumble dry. Leave the adjusting ring and pins in place.

How do you adjust the size and fit?
There are two simple adjustments on the HipHugger. The length of the shoulder strap can be adjusted to locate the child's weight just at or above the hip. This adjustment is usually made only once (for each parent) and is done by means of a steel ring and a pair of metal pins embedded in the strap. The result is a clasp that is extremely strong, lightweight, and virtually invisible. No clunky, ugly hardware visible here.

The other adjustment is the tension cord across the back of the seat section or "bucket". This raises and lowers the child's recline angle. It also allows right or left-handed parents to aim the child slightly forward as he or she grows.
